Education Programs
The Science and Technology Education Program provides professional development
instruction to inservice and preservice teachers. There are three programs
available to teachers. Each of these programs is offered free of charge and
provides opportunities for extension or graduate credit from accredited
universities.
Edward Teller Science & Technology Symposium
The Edward Teller Science and Technology Symposium links the science classroom
with the research laboratory. Science educators visit Livermore Laboratory to
explore cutting-edge research in physics, chemistry, biology, and environmental
sciences. Participants tour state-of-the-art research laboratories, talk with
researchers, attend "hands-on" workshops to learn new standards-based activities
they can use in their classroom, and enjoy an evening event, “Dinner With a
Scientist. The dinner is attended by “world class” scientists who devote the
evening to talking informally with teachers. Participants may earn 1 semester
unit from CSU Chico. Register online to participate in September.
Computer Technology Workshops for Educators
This suite of workshops provides instruction to K-14 teachers in the use of
Internet technology. These workshops are designed by teachers to help other
teachers make the best use of their Internet resources. Review the schedule of
the summer workshops and register online. Participants may earn up to 3-semester
unit from the University of San Diego. Register online to participate this
summer.
